Nippon Cultural Broadcasting Corporation will be hosting Yuichiro Ueno (Rikkyo University Athletics Club Men’s Ekiden Coach) to provide commentary for the 35th Izumo Ekiden, the beginning of the three major student ekiden events, on Monday, October 9th (holiday) from 1:00 p.m. We will be inviting you to the live commentary and announcer Kazumi Saito.

–About the race plan. The 6th ward is Tsurukawa (Masaya). If you were behind, what was the difference by seconds?
“Mebuki Suzuki (Komazawa’s 6th ward) was in very good shape from today’s adjustments.If he is behind, he should be within 10 seconds, at worst within 15 seconds.If he is in the lead, he should be able to connect the task in 15 seconds or more. I guess we can win.”
–Where do you want to be at the top?
“It would be interesting if they lined up in the 3rd ward. Then it would be an anchor battle. A battle for the lead in the anchor battle. I think that’s how it will play out. At first, there will be a headwind in the first half, so maybe Chuo University will be in the 1st ward due to a change on the day. ) I think I’ll use Yoshii (Yamato), but I don’t think there will be much of a difference.”
–Tsurukawa spoke with a strangely persuasive voice, confidently saying, “I can match it.”
“Well, I’m coming into (the tournament) with a lot more practice than when I was in the Kanto inter-college tournament.I was the top Japanese person to run 5,000 meters during the inter-college tournament, but I didn’t practice at all.It took about two or three weeks just to make it. Compared to that, he hasn’t done that much in the summer camp as a whole, but if you multiply his potential and his rate of training, I think he’ll be able to run reasonably well.Running the same way on road and track, 10,000m in 28 minutes 20 minutes. He’s been showing results around seconds. He’s the type of person who can run just as well on the road, so the ending will be interesting. Well, to be honest, Komazawa is one step ahead.
