LIVE – Snow-ice, violent wind, floods… 17 departments on orange alert

Strong wind alert. This Monday, January 16, Météo-France places 26 departments on orange alert for major gusts linked to storm Gérard, but also snow and ice and flood alerts.

The 23 departments affected by strong winds are:Dawnthe Calvadosthem Cotes-d’Armorl’Yourl’Eure-et-Loirl’Ille-et-Vilainethe Loire Atlantiquethe Loiretthe Somethe Marnethe Mayennel’Ornethe Sarthe, Paristhe Seine-Maritimethe Seine et Marnethem Yvelinesthe Vendeel’Yonnel’Essonethem Hauts-de-Seinethe Seine-Saint-Denis and the Val de Marne.

The Finisterethe Morbihanl’Indre et Loirel‘Internalthe Loir et Cherthe Maine et Loire and the Cher come out of orange vigilance this Monday morning.

In addition, orange vigilance for snow and ice is triggered for the two departments of the Lozere a you Cantal due to snowfall which started overnight in the Massif Central. Météo-France thus estimates that “15 to 20 centimeters of generalized snow are expected, and up to 30 cm locally from Margeride to Aubrac” while warning about “risk of formation of snowdrifts under the action of the wind”.

Finally, the Pas-de-Calais is placed on orange alert due to a major flood on the Hem.
