Live | Southern Alps: cold snap from Sunday before snowfall down to low altitude

Winter is well on its way. The thermometer will be in free fall on Sunday, according to forecasts from Météo-Alpes-Durance.

At daybreak, the thermometer will show -4 to -11 degrees in the Southern Alps, a drop of up to ten degrees compared to the day before. In the afternoon, the temperatures will not exceed 3°C in our two departments but the weather will remain dry.

This cold snap will intensify on Monday with early morning temperatures between -6°C and -12°C. During the day, they will not exceed 2°C bringing snow to low altitudes in the evening. Snowy precipitation which should continue Tuesday morning from 400 to 500 meters above sea level. That day, the thermometer will rise and show -3 to 0°C in the morning and 0 to 3°C in the afternoon.

A risk of snow is also observed for Wednesday in the middle mountains in a context of rising temperatures with up to 6°C at the hottest of the day.
