“We cannot evacuate them”: on BFMTV, a deputy from Mariupol, warns of the situation of wounded soldiers in Azovstal
Guest of BFMTV this Sunday, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, Ukrainian MP for Mariupol, spoke about the situation concerning the Azovstal factory, a huge industrial complex where many civilians were holed up after the start of the Russian offensive.
He confirmed the information released on Saturday by President Zelensky, according to which all the civilians had been evacuated from the site.
“All the women, all the children and all the elderly were evacuated from the Azovstal factory,” he said.
Nevertheless, many soldiers, including some wounded, are still underground.
“There are still a large number of wounded soldiers on the spot. They need to be evacuated. (…) We cannot evacuate them, the combatants at the Azovstal site are deprived of medicine”, he said. alert.

Russia announces it has destroyed several airfields in western Ukraine
In southwestern Ukraine, airfields in the regions of Artsyz, near Romania, Odessa – a major Ukrainian port on the Black Sea – and Voznessensk, north of Mykolaiv, were targeted, announced Saturday evening the Russian Defense Ministry.

G7 heads of state to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky this Sunday
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is due to take part in the videoconference meeting of the leaders of the G7 major powers on Sunday to discuss the situation in his country, where the fate of the last besieged in the strategic port of Mariupol remains uncertain.
“May 8 is a historic date marking the end of the Second World War in Europe which brought terror, destruction and death to Europe,” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s spokeswoman said on Friday.
She also felt that the war in Ukraine made “the cohesion of the G7 (…) more important than ever”.

The last civilians were evacuated from the Azovstal factory
Saturday evening in his daily message, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said: “we have evacuated civilians from Azovstal”, referring to the number of 300 exfiltrated people. Now, “we are now preparing the second phase (…): the wounded and the medical personnel”.
