Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp confirmed that his team gifted Real Madrid the victory in the match, which the latter won 5-2 in the first leg of the Champions League final on Tuesday night.

Liverpool scored five goals at home for the first time in the Champions League, and it is the third time that they have received this number of goals in one match at home in all competitions this century.

This is the sixth defeat in seven matches for Liverpool once morest Real Madrid, including the final in 2018 and 2022, with coach Jürgen Klopp’s team waiting for the return match in his disastrous season.

Klopp said following the match: I told the players following the match that defeat becomes defeat if we don’t learn from it. If we allow one game to affect us, that’s bad.

He added: Yes, we need to improve, but we must look at the positive things as well. We gave Real Madrid the five goals, we might have done better but Real Madrid is completely different.

He continued: We will go to Madrid to win. I don’t know how likely that is to happen or not.
