In 2020, John and Melody Hennessee sold almost everything they owned, then bought a trailer to travel all over the United States.

One day, John got tired of driving; He and his wife then saw an ad on Facebook for a 274-day cruise with the Royal Caribbean company. It was at this point that they decided to adopt life at sea permanently.

The duo is currently in Republican Dominica, as part of one of the many long cruises in which they have taken part. In addition to the Caribbean, they notably visited the coasts of Australia and New Zealand, in addition to the South Pacific.

Not only is this lifestyle exciting, but it is also less expensive, claim the two elders.

“Now we have a phone bill, the cruise bill and a few credit card accounts that we use when we stop over, but that’s it,” says John Hennessee.

“We no longer have a mortgage or expenses to make on our house. We no longer have car or home insurance or utility bills,” he adds.

According to the withdrawal, the couple’s current expenses are about half of what they spent when they lived on the mainland.

Their cruise schedule is currently full until December 2024. After this date, they plan to reserve a place on the Villa Vie company boat, for a three-year journey!

The ship, whose construction has not been completed, will be 30% occupied by permanent residents.

“We want to buy a cabin that we can design the way we want it. This will be our home for probably at least 15 years,” says Melody Hennessee.
