ABU DHABI: The thrilling Liwa International Festival will conclude on Sunday with thrilling motor sports competitions. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office and Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, visited the Liwa Festival venue organized by the Liwa Sports Club in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism. He commended the organizers of the fair for celebrating UAE heritage and boosting tourism in the region.
Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, Commander in Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, Staff Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, and Executive Council Secretary General Saif Saeed Ghobash approved him.
Apart from the falcon, camel and horse races, the fair also attracted a car race up the Morib sand dune, one of the largest sand dunes in the world. The Liwa festival which started on December 16 is notable for its massive participation.
The festival held at Liwa Village area has musical performances, food, entertainment and thriller motor sports competitions. Liwa International Festival is the largest festival in West Asia under this category.
Leading singers of the region such as Khalid Al Mulla, Hamad Al Ameri, Abadi Al Johar, Murtif Al Mutraf and Ida Al Menhali performed at the Liwa International Festival. The winners of the motor sports competitions will be awarded on the main stage of the festival.
