Sunday June 2, 2002 was a disaster for the partisans of a supracantonal vision. Rejected by 80% by the Genevans and 77% of the Vaudois, the merger project between the two cantons was shattered against local identities. Observers thought the marriage was buried for a long time. Today, some protagonists seem to still believe in it. But others remain fiercely against it.
