Nora Kelly, of the Santa Fe Archaeological Institute, is approached by historian Clive Benton to locate the lost encampment of the Donner expedition, undiscovered since 1847, in order to carry out historical research… and get her hands on on a treasure.
Benton indeed found the diary of a victim of the expedition, during which pioneers, stranded by a snowstorm in the Sierra Nevada, had no choice but to devour each other to SURVIVE…
But, in addition to old bones and a few gold coins, what they will discover will raise the temperature by several degrees. Especially since the young FBI agent Corrie Swanson, who has joined Nora and her team, tells them that the current searches have a link with abuses committed today…
