Lower gas prices for the long weekend?

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Motorists should see lower prices at the pump over the weekend, according to an expert in gasoline price analysis.

“The decline has continued intermittently over the past 12 weeks. We might still go down before the long weekend,” GasBuddy gas price aggregator chief analyst Patrick De Haan told Global News.

According to the webpage, the average pump price in British Columbia was $1.85 on Friday. With the removal of the gas tax, the cheapest pump price is in Alberta, with an average price of $1.40. Quebec is in the middle of the pack with an average price of $1.68.

However, an increase is to be expected for diesel, according to Mr. De Haan.

“Diesel prices started to increase by regarding $0.05 a liter last week,” he said.
