Ouagadougou, July 21, 2022 (AIB) — Lu Shan on Thursday became China’s second ambassador to Burkina Faso, following the restoration of bilateral relations between the two countries in May 2018.

The President of Faso, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, received Thursday morning the credentials of three ambassadors accredited to Burkina Faso, including those of Lu Shan, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China with residence in Ouagadougou.

A career diplomat, Lu Shan joined his country’s foreign affairs department in 1995 where he held senior positions both at the central level and in his country’s diplomatic representations abroad.

He is the second Chinese ambassador after Li Jan, to settle in Ouagadougou, after the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries on May 26, 2018, after a 24-year suspension in favor of Taiwan.

President Damiba also received the credentials of Major General Javeed Rashad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Burkina Faso with residence in Tripoli, Libya.

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Greece to Burkina Faso with residence in Dakar, Senegal, Efthymios Georges Costopoulos, also sacrificed to tradition.
