Lucky Star will have a spin-off with an adult Konata Izumi — Kudasai

In the most recent edition of the new magazine of Kadokawa, Mitana!it was announced that the manga written and illustrated by Kagami Yoshimizu, Lucky Star, will have a spin-off that will begin publication in the fourth issue of the magazine, scheduled for some time in December in Japan. This new spin-off will star an adult version of Konata Izumi, specifically 31 years oldand will be illustrated by Haruki Hongou.

In this regard, the author Kagami Yoshimizu commented: «I’m looking forward to seeing how it will be. The design of the story and the way it was put together was a great example of how I was able to capture the characteristics of the characters while also highlighting Hongou-sensei’s amazing abilities.».

Yoshimizu began publishing the manga through the magazine Comptiq from the publisher Kadokawa in December 2003, and is officially still in publication. Since then, new chapters have appeared in multiple other magazines from the same publisher, although no story is related to the previous one and it is only a series of comedy and retellings of life.

The work was resumed in the third edition of the magazine Mitana!, on November 18, 2022 in Japan, after an eight-year suspension, when Yoshimizu reported that he had to take on another project. The anime adaptation was produced by the studios Kyoto Animation and premiered in April 2007. After the first four episodes, the director Yutaka Yamamoto was fired and replaced by Yasuhiro Takemoto.

Lucky Star Synopsis

The story follows the daily lives of four high school girls: Konata Izumi, the lazy otaku; the Hiiragi twins, Tsukasa and Kagami; and the intelligent and educated Miyuki Takara. As their school days progress, they develop their eccentric and spirited friendship, while making humorous observations about the world around them. Whether it’s Japanese tradition, the intricacies of otaku culture, academics, or the proper way to prepare and eat various foods, no topic is safe from their conversations.
