The National Electoral Council (CNE) initiated a process for the alleged inability of Luis Gilberto Murillo, Sergio Fajardo’s vice-presidential formula for the Centro Esperanza coalition.
The order, which dates from March 29, indicates: “knowledge of the request to revoke the registration of the candidacy of Mr. Luis Gilberto Murillo Urrutia, vice-presidential formula of Dr. Sergio Fajardo Valderrama, on the occasion of the elections for the Presidency of the Republic, period 2022-2026, and it is ordered
practice tests”.

The document indicates that, through an official letter filed on March 17, citizen Pablo Bustos Sánchez “requested the revocation of the registration of the candidacy of Mr. Luis Gilberto Murillo Urrutia to the Vice Presidency of the Republic”.
Bustos Sánchez is director of the Red de Veedurías Ciudadanas and, on the same day he filed the official letter, he published a message on his Twitter account addressed to the former governor of Chocó: “Luis Gilberto Murillo is disqualified from holding elected positions. [sic] -vice-presidential formula- by @sergio_fajardo for Centro Esperanza. @consejodeestado and @CConstitucional reiterated it for conviction for a crime against public property, so [sic] we annulled his election as governor of Chocó”.

The document of the director of the Citizen Oversight Network speaks of a request in which he asks the CNE “refrain from registering Mr. Luis Gilberto Murillo Urrutia as either a presidential candidate or as a formula for the Vice Presidency of the Republic, for the period 2022-2026, since he is subject to perpetual or lifetime constitutional disability, contained in article 122 of the Political Constitution, after having been convicted of a crime against public property. (…) In case of having registered as a candidate and/or as a vice-presidential formula, please declare the nullity and consequently revoke said registration(s)”.
Judge Pedro Felipe Gutiérrez requested the beginning of the process against Luis Gilberto Murillo, in addition to require the candidate to rule on the facts within two days of receiving the aforementioned communication.
