Lull on the Covid-19 side but increase in winter pathologies

Damaging return to normal. In the Hauts-de-France, except for Pas-de-Calais,
the coronavirus epidemic is in constant decline. However, Public Health France indicators show an increase in so-called “winter” epidemics. Viral diseases,
like the flu, which had almost disappeared during the same period last year thanks to the health measures put in place to fight against Covid-19.

On the front of the surveillance of the coronavirus epidemic, the indicators confirm a certain stability. At the regional level, the incidence rate is 31 per 100,000 inhabitants and the positivity rate is established at 0.8%. Public health France Note all the same a slight increase in the number of cases in the Pas-de-Calais department where 24 new contaminations per 100,000 inhabitants were recorded last week against 17 the previous week. Everywhere else, the number is stable, even declining in the Oise.

Pre-epidemic situation for influenza, bronchiolitis and gastro

But the lifting or lightening of certain health measures to block the coronavirus has allowed other pathologies to reappear. This is the case for bronchiolitis in children, gastroenteritis and influenza and influenza-like illnesses, diseases for which Hauts-de-France is in a pre-epidemic situation.

In the case of bronchiolitis, cases have also been steadily increasing for the past four weeks, warns Public Health France. The activity of emergency services and SOS doctors around this pathology is even higher than that observed at the same period during previous seasons.

On the acute gastroenteritis side, activity remains low and emergency room admissions stable. On the other hand, it is on the rise among SOS physicians. The level of contamination is comparable to those observed over the same period in previous years.
