Lupus erythematosus / predisposing young women! Symptoms not only blush, but also affect the whole body, serious complications may be fatal | Health 2.0

Lupus erythematosus is a chronic inflammatory disease of the immune system. The body’s immune system should have a protective function under normal operation, but it loses its ability to identify or avoid itself due to out-of-control, and produces antibodies to attack its own healthy tissues and organs. The term “lupus” was named after a physician described the patient’s erythema as being bitten by a wolf in 1815.

Lupus erythematosus can be roughly divided into 4 types. In addition to the well-known systemic lupus erythematosus, there are 3 rare special types:

1.systemic lupus erythematosus

It affects multiple organs in the body, also known as “systemic lupus erythematosus”, and it occurs in women of reproductive age (15 to 40 years old), with a male to female ratio of about 1:9.

2.discoid lupus erythematosus

Affects the skin only, the lesions appear as red disc-shaped plaques, red in the initial stage, and the lesions will crust over in the later stage and completely destroy the hair, making it impossible for hair to grow in that location. It usually appears on areas such as the face, head, or ears, and can be aggravated by sun exposure.

3.drug-induced lupus

Lupus caused by drugs is mostly due to long-term use of specific drugs, and it is necessary to stop the triggering drugs during treatment.

4.neonatal lupus

A passive autoimmune reaction caused by the passage of antibodies from the mother into the fetus through the placenta. Common symptoms include temporary erythema on the face, hands and feet at birth (usually disappearing in about half a year), and in severe cases, complete heart block may occur.

What causes lupus erythematosus?

Clinical observation and experimental evidence show that abnormal immune system, genetic factors, hormonal abnormalities and environmental factors may all be the pathogenic causes of lupus erythematosus, and some factors may also induce or aggravate the disease, such as excessive sun exposure, viral infection, Emotional stress and stress.

Studies have found that up to 40% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus have MAP4K3 (also known as GLK) protein kinase gene mutations or inherited gene mutations.

What are the common symptoms of lupus erythematosus?

Lupus usually affects only a few organs and has mild symptoms, but it can also be fatal due to damage to vital organs. There are many symptoms of systemic lupus erythematosus, the course of the disease is often unpredictable, and the individual differences are large. In severe cases, it will attack the visceral system, leading to fatal complications such as organ hemorrhage, thrombosis, or invasion of the central nervous system. Common symptoms are as follows:

Systemic physical manifestations:Fatigue, fever, poor appetite, weight loss, nausea and vomiting, muscle aches, etc.

Musculoskeletal System:Joint pain, arthritis, muscle inflammation, avascular osteonecrosis, etc.

Blood system:Anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, splenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, etc.

nervous system:Cognitive impairment, abnormal mood, convulsions, epilepsy, headache, cerebrovascular disease, nerve palsy, etc.

heart:Pericarditis, endocarditis, palpitations, etc.

lung:Pleurisy, pleural effusion, dyspnea, pulmonary hemorrhage, pneumonia, pulmonary hypertension, etc.

kidney:Proteinuria, hematuria, nephrotic syndrome, renal failure, edema, etc.

Gastrointestinal system:Intestinal bleeding, perforation, nausea, diarrhea, ascites, etc.

Eye:Dry eye, retinal vasculitis, etc.

Oral:Sores in the mouth or nose.

If you have any unexplained symptoms, seek medical attention as soon as possible to avoid delays in treatment.
