Lydia Wegsada already holds a management position at the Groß Gerungs Cardiovascular Center. However, that doesn’t stop her from continuing to work intensively on her master’s degree at the Wiener Neustadt University of Applied Sciences, Wieselburg Campus. As part of her part-time studies, she was also given the unique opportunity to spend a semester abroad in the USA, despite her demanding position as marketing team leader in the cardiovascular center.
“In these six months I not only acquired valuable specialist knowledge, but also underwent immense personal development,” explained Wegsada. “The ability to adapt to new situations, to leave my comfort zone and to be open to different cultures and perspectives are just some of the qualities that I gained during my time in the USA and that I will use in my professional and private environment from now on can.”
She completed the semester abroad at the renowned Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. In addition to her intensive studies in the field of “International Business,” Ms. Wegsada took every opportunity to explore the country’s diverse locations.
Despite her obligations as team leader of the marketing department at the Cardiovascular Center, Lydia Wegsada found a good balance between professional obligations and personal growth. She emphasizes that the support of the company, the open exchange with employees and the possibilities of digitalization, such as online meetings and virtual communication tools, were crucial to her successful study abroad. Modern technologies would enable effective collaboration despite geographical distance and underline the importance of digitalization in today’s working world.
