Dr. Geneviève Baron is issuing a warning to everyone since ticks are no longer just in the woods, they can even be found in your garden.

“Ticks like forests, but they also like tall grass and it can happen that we have them on our land. The land in certain sectors in Estrie is close to wooded areas,” says the medical specialist at the CIUSSS de l’Estrie.

She adds that you can protect yourself by taking a few easy steps before your outdoor activity.

“When we go outside, don’t forget to put on insect repellent, if we can and it’s not too hot, we can put on long clothes. Once you get home, it’s important to check our bodies for ticks and remove them as quickly as possible with tweezers,” she says.
