The man, driving a moped, probably fell on the tracks of the tram currently under construction.
The victim was discovered by chance by passers-by around 9 p.m. Emergency services rushed to the scene but arrived too late to save the 40-year-old.
The public prosecutor’s office in Bruges has appointed a traffic expert to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident. According to his first findings, the moped rider found himself on the rails of the tramway under construction, which led to his fall. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
