macOS 14.1 is available for download for everyone. The new features are light and few in number, there are also a few fixes. In System Settings, the status of your warranty contracts for your Apple and Beats products is detailed. In Photos, the crop ratio you use frequently can be remembered.

Just like with iOS 17.1, the Music app gains a favorites feature and playlist and the ability to exclude an artist from recommendations, rather than just an album or song.

Bugs have been fixed, Apple cites the case of location settings for System Services which reset unexpectedly and that of encrypted external volumes which sometimes refused to appear on the desktop.

Demonstration of the new feature of Photos: during the first edition, it is the free ratio which is selected, but I change it for the image ratio. During the second edition, this step is no longer necessary, Photos has retained my preference and I can modify the image directly.

macOS 14.1 release notes:

The Music app now allows you to add songs, albums, and playlists to favorites, and filter library content to only show favorites. Apple warranty status for Macs, AirPods, and Beats headphones is listed in System Settings. Fixed an issue that could cause “System Services” settings under “Location Services” to be reset. Fixed an issue that could prevent encrypted external drives from mounting.
