It seems that o macOS Sonoma followed iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, causing a certain impact on devices compatible with the new system. After all, the list of Macs that will receive the upcoming version of macOS, compared to Ventura 13, is smaller.

For example: the MacBook de 2017 — supported by the previous version — is off that list, as is the MacBook Pro and the iMac released around the same time. Of the devices that hit the market six years ago, only the iMac Pro will be supported.

In contrast, the same models of Macs mini e MacBooks Air compatible with last year’s system are also compatible with this year’s update — that is, those released from 2018 onwards.

Here is the complete list of devices compatible with macOS Sonoma 14:

  • MacBook Pro (2018 or later)
  • MacBook Air (2018 ou posterior)
  • iMac (2019 or later)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • Mac Pro (2019 or later)
  • Mac mini (2018 or later)
  • Mac Studio (2022 or later)

It is important to mention that some specific features of macOS Sonoma 14 may only be compatible with machines equipped with the M1/M2 chips and their variants. However, we’ll have to wait a little longer for more details on that.
