macOS Ventura 13.6.2 fixes a bug that could make some MacBook Pros unusable

Yesterday, in parallel with version 14.1.1 of macOS Sonoma which fixes numerous bugs linked to the new MacBook Pro and iMac M3, Apple also updated the previous system, macOS Ventura. This version 13.6.2, which we mentioned in the dedicated news, is important: it fixes a bug that we talked regarding recently.

macOS bug on 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros may affect Asahi Linux (and make Mac unusable)

In fact, the support page Apple explicitly indicates that it fixes a bug that was highlighted by the developers of the GNU/Linux Asahi distribution. And this bug is very annoying: on 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pros (M1, M2 or M3), it can in fact cause a black screen during the update if you have modified the screen settings to change the refresh rate. As we explained, the problem specifically affects Macs equipped with a ProMotion display, that is, models with a variable refresh rate.

Stay tuned to ProMotion until the new update has been applied.

Without this update, you risk a black screen in certain cases, especially if you try to access the rescue system (the recovery partition) by having previously disabled ProMotion technology. This update for macOS Ventura is therefore strongly recommended to users of the various MacBook Pros in question.
