After his arrival in Abu Dhabi, the French president said that he provides full support to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed after his election as president of the UAE. And he added, in an Arabic tweet on Twitter, that he was visiting Abu Dhabi “to pay tribute to the memory of (the late President of the Emirates) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan… He was respected by everyone for the values of peace, openness and dialogue that he embodied.”
The French presidency had reported, earlier, that President Emmanuel Macron would travel to the capital Abu Dhabi today to offer condolences on the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.
The White House announced that US Vice President Kamala Harris will lead a delegation today to offer condolences. He explained that Harris will confirm to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed the strength of the partnership with the UAE and Washington’s desire to strengthen it.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will also travel to the UAE capital today to offer condolences on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said Johnson would stress the need to strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and the UAE.
