French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday announced a series ofinvestments by 2030 to achieve a european green plane » including 300 million euros per year over the period, but also 200 million to develop the sector SAF with the establishment of a new factory, and 200 million to help startups involved in small aircraft electric or at hydrogen.
During his visit to the engine manufacturer Safran in Seine et Marne on June 16, 2023, Emmanuel Macron unveiled – and costed – a series of initiatives intended to promote the development of a national sector in sustainable aviation. ” We produce approximately one out of two aircraft in the world (…), and if we know how to completely pivot French industry, we can be a leader in decarbonization and substantially reduce emissions. “. The three areas of investment are:
– 300 million euros each year over the period 2024-2030 (tripling the current support of the Council for Civil Aeronautical Research, CORAC) to achieve a European “green aircraft”, with the aim of flying it “in a totally ecological way”, whether with SAF, hydrogen or electricity. The President is focusing in particular on the engine Risea “100% ecological” project led by Safran and GE Aviation (SAF or hydrogen).
