Air Madagascar, renamed “Madagascar Airlines”, announces job cuts through a voluntary departure plan. Compensation is provided in money and plane tickets

Air Mad with two planes employs 800 people. For comparison, Air Austral has the same number of personnel, but with 14 aircraft.

The general director of the Malagasy company, Thierry de Bailleul, offers employees the opportunity to voluntarily resign in exchange for severance pay: 3 months’ salary and unlimited, highly reduced tickets for those with more than 25 years of seniority. Two months’ salary and between 5 and 10 tickets for the others. More than 400 departures are expected, or half of the workforce.

“Madagascar Airlines” is trying to recover while a controversy is launched by a former boss of the company, Rinah Rakotomanga. She accuses the CEO of having awarded himself a staggering salary. She also accuses Air Austral of having killed Air Madagascar at the time of the agreement between the two companies.
