Madinaty Golf Club to Host 2026 World Golf Awards in African First

Madinaty Golf Club in Egypt will host the 13th edition of the World Golf Awards from November 5 to 7, 2026, marking the first time the global golf tourism event will be held on the African continent.

The tournament and gala will gather prominent figures in the sport and international golf tourism executives, culminating in a final awards ceremony on the evening of November 7. According to event organizers, the weekend’s itinerary features the World Golf Awards Classic, which will be played on Madinaty’s 18-hole championship course. The course features a par 71 spanning 6,900 yards and was designed by acclaimed architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., having previously hosted the 2022 Asian Tour International Series. Attendees will also take part in a welcome reception at the Official Accommodation Partner, The St. Regis New Capital, Cairo, as noted in coverage from the World Golf Awards.

Omar Hisham Talaat, Chief Business Development Officer at Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG)—which owns the club through TMG Golf—said the selection validates the quality of local sports infrastructure and bolsters Egypt’s status as a top-tier destination for international golf travelers.

“Hosting the World Golf Awards for the first time in Egypt is a culmination of the great successes and achievements Madinaty Golf Club has realised in recent years,” Talaat said. He noted that the venue has earned the title of “Egypt’s Best Golf Course” five times and “Africa’s Best Golf Course” three times from the organization.

Chris Frost, Managing Director of the World Golf Awards, expressed enthusiasm for bringing the organization’s inaugural African event to the New Cairo development.

“It is an honour for us to host World Golf Awards at Madinaty Golf Club for our inaugural event in Africa,” Frost said, adding that the club stands out globally due to its championship-caliber course and Egypt’s dependable year-round sunny climate.

Situated within the master-planned eastern urban community of Madinaty, the full-service club provides seamless connectivity to Cairo International Airport. Beyond the course, the facility includes a spacious clubhouse outfitted with multiple restaurants, swimming pools, a gym, a spa, and a multi-purpose terrace configured for social events.

Clinton Norris, Director of Sales and Marketing at Troon International—the global club management company overseeing the property—stated that the venue’s selection highlights continuous regional growth in the sport and high-level hospitality standards.

“As the first World Golf Awards to be held in Africa, this event presents a valuable opportunity to showcase the quality of golf, hospitality and infrastructure available within the region,” Norris said, affirming Troon’s pride in its partnership with TMG Golf to support the club’s ongoing operations.
