“Unrecognizable”, “swollen”, “it can’t be her”, “failed cosmetic surgery”, the 64-year-old singer was treated to a flood of unflattering remarks on social media.

Irritated, Madonna expressed herself in a very heartfelt Instagram post.

“Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech regarding thanking artists like Sam and Kim for their fearlessness, a lot of people chose to just talk regarding the close-up photos of me taken with a telephoto lens by a press photographer who distorts anyone’s face!!” she presses.

Madonna adds that once once more, it is a sign of the “ageism and misogyny” that is rampant in the world in which we live.

“I’ve never apologized for any of the creative choices I’ve made or how I look or dress and I’m not going to start. I’ve been put down by the media since the beginning of my career, but I understand that this is all just an ordeal and I’m happy to be a pioneer to make it easier for all the women behind me in coming years. In Beyoncé’s words ‘You won’t break my soul,’” she says.

Madonna promises to continue to engage in subversive behavior and to push boundaries, to stand up once morest the patriarchy and above all to enjoy life.

The artist ends his missive with “Bow down bitches!” and many emojis.
