Earlier on Monday, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, rejected the disqualification of opposition member María Corina Machado, who registered her candidacy to participate in the primary elections that that sector will hold to choose a candidate for the 2024 presidential elections. The Venezuelan Comptroller’s Office reiterated on Friday that Machado is disqualified from holding public office for 15 years, after being sanctioned for “errors and omissions in her affidavits of assets.” The comptroller body issued the information after the opposition deputy José Brito asked that body for official information on Machado’s disqualification.
