Mahindra Scorpio-N, the ‘Big Daddy’ of SUVs is ready for India

Mahindra revealed the first photos and videos of the new Scorpio-N, a ladder-frame ‘truck’ SUV for the Indian market.

With a long history in the industry, Mahindra Scorpio has managed to position itself as a popular and robust SUV. Now, the brand has created a stir in the world with the presentation of the new Scorpio-N, which will hit the Indian market on June 27.

Named as the ‘great father of SUVs’, the new Mahindra Scorpio-N will represent a significant step forward from its predecessor. Although it will maintain the traditional proportions, it will look much more modern and streamlined.

In addition, it will have some new LED headlights, new grille, Mahindra badging, and a set of Volvo-style taillights. The brand describes it as a premium SUV with advanced modern features and latest technology.

It is likely to incorporate a touch screen larger infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster on more advanced trims. Known internally with the code ‘Z101’, it will maintain the spirit of adventure and robustness of the predecessor.

Furthermore, it will be built on a new architecture in-house designed body-on-frame Mahindra Research Valley near India, and the brand’s North American Technical Center in Auburn Hills, USA.

In fact, the new platform could bring significant improvements in terms of security and technology, as well as a higher performance. As for engine options, the model will offer both version gasoline as dieselalong with a manual or automatic transmission.

Might offer 4×4 option so entry level versions would count rear-wheel drive. According to local media, there will be 2.0-liter gasoline and 2.2-liter turbodiesel engines, which are already in the XUV700 y Thar.
