Events surrounding the dismissal of health expert Ernest Pichlbauer raise numerous questions – Written request to hackers

Vienna (OTS) – “The current events surrounding the dismissal of health economist Ernest Pichlbauer raise numerous questions. Thorough clarification is imperative here,” said the provincial party chairman of the Vienna People’s Party, City Councilor Karl Mahrer, in a first reaction to the current media reports.

The renowned health expert Ernest Pichlbauer criticized City Councilor for Health Hacker in the course of an interview with Ö1 regarding the topic of medical study places. Pichlbauer, who teaches at Vienna’s Sigmund Freud University, was suddenly dismissed in October. “In any case, it cannot be the case that criticism of the City Councilor for Health Hacker leads to professional consequences. That would be unacceptable,” said the health spokeswoman for the Vienna People’s Party, municipal councilor Ingrid Korosec.

According to a report in the daily newspaper “Der Standard”, Pichlbauer had been allocated the planned lecture dates for the coming semester a few days beforehand, and in his many years of teaching he had never been confronted with any complaints. No reasons were given in the letter of termination either.

According to “Kurier”, experts in the industry speak of a great deal of mutual dependence between the city and Vienna’s Sigmund Freud University. “In any case, these events strongly suggest that there is a concrete connection here,” Mahrer continued.

Events need to be explained

These current events must be clarified immediately. “City Councilor Hacker is asked to take a comprehensive position. The Vienna People’s Party will also submit a corresponding written request,” Korosec concluded.
