Live as long as possible until you blow out your hundredth candle? It’s possible ! An American study reveals the secret.

Almost everyone dreams of being immortal. Unfortunately, this is only possible in Twilight or Vampire Diaries… We may not be Edward Cullen or Damon Salvatore, but in ordinary people there are certain factors that can prolong life expectancy. This requires an irreproachable lifestyle with a good sleep pattern, regular physical activity or a balanced diet. But according to an American study, one factor in particular can help you live to be 100 years old. To do this, you just have to pay attention to your weight and maintain it from the age of 60.

To reach this conclusion, researchers at the University of California at San Diego in the United States carried out a survey of 55,000 Americans aged between 61 and 81 years. They analyzed the weight of these women and classified them into three distinct categories: those who lost weight, those who gained weight and those who remained stable. The results of the study were later published in the journal The Journals of Gerontology on August 29.

No matter your weight, it should not change after 60!

The study showed that 56% of participants managed to reach the age of 90, 29% lived to be 95 and 9% were able to celebrate their hundredth birthday. The secret ? A large majority of these women were in the third category and therefore did not gain or lose weight. Thus, researchers were able to deduce that women who manage to maintain their weight are twice as likely to exceed the age of 90. But a question arises: what was their weight at the beginning of the research? According to experts, it does not matter. “The pattern of results was similar in ‘normal’ weight, overweight, and obese women,” they specified.
