Some of the 31 individuals arrested have criminal records and were actively sought. Two members of civil protection were also arrested. They are suspected of being linked to a criminal network operating in the organization of illegal immigration from the coasts of Ras Al-Sukhhatah and Charana in the province of Nador.
The search operation carried out on the beach of “Charana” on the nights of February 27 and 28, on the basis of information also provided by the General Directorate of Surveillance of the National Territory, led to the arrest of boat drivers transporting 7 candidates for illegal emigration and the discovery of 8 inanimate bodies.
Furthermore, the investigations carried out in the context of this case led to the seizure of 25 vehicles, a sum of 1,162,000 Moroccan dirhams, 131 kilograms of cannabis, 600 grams of cocaine, as well as a collection of counterfeit license plates, boat engines and bladed weapons.
Five of those arrested were placed in police custody in Oujda while waiting to be presented to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Appeal of Nador, while 26 individuals were presented before this court, which decided to incarcerate 21 of them. between them in the local prison of Nador, while 4 others were released for lack of sufficient evidence, and one person was placed under judicial supervision.
The head of the anti-gang unit in Nador and 6 members of the auxiliary forces were summoned to testify in this case.
Investigations continue to elucidate all the circumstances and details of this matter, as well as to determine all its possible national and international ramifications and connections.
