Two large discoveries of cocaine, for a total of some 3.4 tonnes, took place last week in the Waeslandian part (Waaslandhavengebied) of the port of Antwerp, the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office announced on Friday.
The first discovery took place last Friday, December 22, in a ship coming from Guayaquil (Ecuador). A container containing 1.24 tonnes of cocaine was discovered. On Thursday, December 28, customs discovered 2.16 tons of cocaine in a ship arriving from Montevideo (Uruguay).
The Antwerp Judicial Police have opened an investigation into this large-scale drug trafficking
