An explosion occurred that led to a major fire in a building in central Paris, on Wednesday, and caused the collapse of two buildings.

The explosion injured 24 people, including 4 seriously, while two buildings collapsed, according to the police.

And the French prosecutor’s office announced that rescue workers are searching for two people missing following the explosion.

And the Paris police stated that a “gas explosion” occurred in the fifth district in the capital, while the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office said, “Nothing enables us to determine the causes of the explosion at this stage.”

French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said in a tweet: “There is a fire in Saint-Jacques Street in the fifth arrondissement in Paris. Paris firefighters are intervening. Please do not impede their intervention and avoid the area.”

French sources revealed that rescue teams intervened in search of those trapped inside the damaged building.
