According to our first information, the fire was reported to the emergency services around 3:30 am. Flames were visible from the E42 highway and Charleroi airport. Under the orders of Lieutenant Jenda and Sergeant Evrard, the firefighters of the Hainaut-East zone (Jumet barracks) found themselves in front of a major fire when they arrived on site, forcing them to call in reinforcement tanks. As of 7 a.m., firefighters were still on scene to bring the blaze under control.

The Brunau local police, in Fleurus, intervened to establish a security perimeter and make the first observations. The Charleroi public prosecutor’s office was notified and apparently had to dispatch an expert on the spot: it would seem that the fire was of criminal origin, as the organizers specify on the Internet.

No one was injured, however, according to our information.
