Makhmudov wins bizarre one-round fight

Adopted Montrealer Arslanbek Makhmudov won a bizarre one-round fight against Germany’s Michael Wallisch.

Makhmudov (16-0-0, 15 K.-O.) has thus met the expectations placed on him. Wallisch (23-6-0, 16 KOs) was forced to throw in the towel after the first assault. He visited the carpet three times.

Makhmudov thus retains his NABA and NABF heavyweight belts.

Mary Spencer surprise par Femke Hermans

The Quebecer Mary Spencer (7-1-0, 5 KO) was surprised by the Belgian Femke Hermans (14-4-0, 5 KO) by losing by unanimous decision of the judges, Friday evening, at the Center Gervais Shawinigan car. Hermans therefore gets his hands on the IBO super middleweight belt.

Widely favourite, Spencer was defeated all along the line against Hermans. The judges handed cards 99-91, 97-93 and 96-94.

Hermans thus got his hands on the vacant IBO super middleweight belt.

Steven Butler conserve sa ceinture

Steven Butler (32-3-1, 26 KOs) won by unanimous decision of the judges against 30-year-old American Joshua Conley (17-6-1, 11 KOs). The judges handed cards 96-94, 99-91 and 97-93.

An eighth victory for Leila Beaudoin

Quebecer Leila Beaudoin obtained her eighth professional victory by defeating Icelander Valgerdur Gudstensdottir.

The 26-year-old Lévisienne won by unanimous decision of the judges, who returned cards of 60-54, 59-55 and 59-55 in her favor.

Gudstensdottir (5-4-0, 1 KO) did not look bad in the ring, but Beaudoin (8-0-0 1 KO) nevertheless had the upper hand in most of the exchanges, never seeming to struggle.

Clear win for Santana

Immediately after Beaudoin’s victory, Montreal’s Luis Santana came to essentially accomplish the same thing in his fight against Mexican Jonathan Uribe Hernandez.

Santana (8-0-0 2 K.-O.) won by unanimous decision after six rounds of intense boxing. Like Gudstensdottir earlier, Uribe (4-1-2 1 K.-O.) did not just show up and gave a real challenge to Santana, who nevertheless found a way to win each assault in the eyes of the judges.

Methodical destruction for Gaumont

For the third fight of the evening, the middleweight Alexandre Gaumont had no trouble disposing of his Mexican rival Pablo Polanco, whom he defeated by K.-O. in the third assault of a duel which was to contain six.

The Buckingham pugilist, obviously stronger, more powerful and more skilled than his rival, came very close to finishing the job in the first round, but Polanco (9-12-0 3 KOs) managed to resist a few more minutes.

Nicknamed “Buckingham’s Wolverine” by some, Gaumont (6-0-0 4 K.-O.) struck the ultimate blow with a solid straight line, with a minute and a half remaining in the third round. One knee on the ground, Polanco couldn’t take it anymore.

War between Chabot and Baranda

No, Jonathan Baranda had not come to Montreal to be beaten. In the fourth fight of the evening, the Mexican knocked down his Quebec rival Thomas Chabot twice before finally losing by unanimous decision of the judges.

Baranda (4-3-1) did not appreciate the decision at all and let the Chabot clan know after the fight.

Chabot (8-0-0 7 K.-O.), who now sports a very distinctive “look”, put up a good fight except for the fifth round, where he found himself on the ground twice before to come back in force at the very end of the assault.

The two men waged a war and the falls to the mat of the Quebecer tightened the score: the judges gave two cards of 56-55 and one of 57-54.
