The media office of Representative Fouad Makhzoumi announced in a statement that the smear campaign against Makhzoumi “is still ongoing, and the persistent allegations regarding his accusation of normalization with the Israeli enemy are nothing but the insistence of the haters on distorting Makhzoumi’s spotless image, for cheap and hateful political goals. Therefore, we reiterate that the accusation of the MP is Makhzoumi, in terms of normalization with the Israeli enemy just for his participation in the Tangiers Dialogue in Morocco on Friday, June 10, 2020, is reprehensible and rejected, knowing that it is a conference regarding coexistence and dialogue between religions and cultures among the Mediterranean countries, and it included officials from Africa, Europe, the Arab Gulf and the Middle East.
The statement reiterated, “Repeatedly recalling that Representative Makhzoumi attended the conference at the invitation of the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, Moroccans living abroad, and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations. He is therefore not concerned with false and malicious accusations that were only made because he is dealing with an Arab country that supports Lebanon.” .
He continued: “The media office is aware of the fierce campaigns against the person of his happiness, and his stances and tireless movement to improve the conditions of the people of Beirut and the Lebanese in general, and his political positions in support of Lebanon’s sovereignty and the strengthening of its Arab relations, and for the country’s stability and renaissance, and against the policies of the party of arms and the successive collapses on the country because of these hateful policies.”
