Thiruvananthapuram: The Malayalam filmmaker revealed that the screenplay of the film The Kerala Story, which started controversies even before its release, was his creation. Young filmmaker Yadu Vijayakrishnan has come forward saying that the script of the film is his. Yadu responded to the media that despite working for the film, the crew did not show any gratitude.

In 2017, he worked with Sudipto Sen, the director of the film, on a documentary related to Jihad. Through this connection, Yadu informed that he was asking if there is a suitable script to do a Hindi film on the same subject in 2021. Then the one-line was written and once it was approved, the writing began. The final draft was prepared after a year of discussions. After handing over the script, the production company withdrew the contract with him as the script writer.

After announcing that a new contract will be made, he continued to cooperate in the works including the location hunt of the film. But Yadu stated that in the new contract, it was stated that he was a consultant and the earlier announced remuneration was also reduced. The film was changed due to the terms of the contract. But when the film was released, it was expected to be included in the thank you card, but it did not happen. Yadu added that things came to light when there was no mention of any kind in the end credit scene of the film.

Yadu clarified that The Kerala Story is a film with a big purpose and he is not interested in taking legal action. Not against the film. But Yadu said that he thinks the staff will do something about the issue.
