Sharjah: A Malayali died in a boat accident in Khorfakan, UAE. Abhilash (38), a resident of Nileswaram in Kasarkot, died. Abhilash has been working as a helper in a private company in Sharjah for seven years.

Three Malayalis, including a child, were injured in the accident. In this, the condition of the child from Thiruvananthapuram is serious. The accident happened when he came to Khorfakan to celebrate the Eid holiday with his colleagues. The other two injured are colleagues of Abhilash.

Eighteen people including 16 passengers and two crew members were in the boat. It is estimated that the number of passengers caused the disaster. The boat was driven by a Malayali.

Shaukat, a native of Perinthalmanna, Malappuram, who survived the disaster, said that the boat overturned due to excessive speed and weight when it reached regarding one and a half kilometers from the shore. Shaukat is a driver in the company where Abhilash worked.

Abhilash’s body is kept in Fujairah hospital mortuary.

Abhilash has been in Sharjah for eight years. The death occurred when he was regarding to attend a milking ceremony in a newly built house. He is the son of agricultural laborers Vijayan and Shyamala.

Wife: Aswathi, Daughter: Abhay. Brother Ajeesh is in Bahrain. The representatives of the organization informed that they are preparing to take the dead body home.
