Malayali Football Coach B.B. Thomas to Lead SAF U-19 Indian Team in Kathmandu

Mangaluru: A Malayali has become the co-coach of the SAF U-19 football Indian team in Kathmandu. B.B. Thomas, a native of Thrissur Ramavarmapuram and the head coach of Mangalore Yenapoya University football team, will come to teach the game. The camp of the defending champions Indian team has started in Bhubaneswar. Suvendu Pandey is the head coach. Pattambi native Shehin Muhammad is also a physiotherapist. The tournament will begin on September 21. India are in Group B along with Bhutan and Bangladesh.

A two-time head coach of the Karnataka Santosh Trophy team, BB led the Under-23 Indian team for Olympic qualification in 2011 and the AFC. He was also the co-coach of the Cup U-17 Indian team. He has played for Kerala Under-21, Mahindra United, Fact Aluva, KSEB and Railways teams.
