Malaysia is ready to welcome tourists

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian government is preparing to reopen the border, which was closed in March 2020 due to the Kovid expansion, two years later. With this, Malaysia, an Asian country that promotes tourism, will soon sweeten up tourism once more. International borders will be open from April 1. Prime Minister Ismail Sabri told a news conference that the move would boost the country’s economy and revive the shattered tourism sector. For two years, entry into Malaysia was restricted to Malaysian nationals and holders of long visas.

It should be noted that the Malaysian government has changed its mind as many other neighboring countries have deviated from travel bans. Malaysia is currently accepting applications for visitor visas, including e-visas. Budget airlines, including Air Asia, have already started booking tickets. A Kovid Negative Certificate taken within 48 hours of departure is mandatory. All passengers are required to undergo antigen testing at their respective airports upon entering the country.

Passengers who have not yet received the vaccine will be required to stay in the quarantine for five days from the date of arrival in the country. The new decision of the Malaysian government will bring relief to the expatriates including the Malayalees. Expatriates, including Malayalees, are hoping to be able to return to work following the end of the five – day compulsory quarantine for those who have been vaccinated, including boosters.
