Mali: Bamako says it has foiled a coup attempt supported by “a Western state”

The military in power in Mali claim to have defeated, on the night of May 11 to 12, a coup attempt led by Malian officers and supported by “a Western state”. Reinforced security measures, with road checkpoints at the borders and at the gates of the capital, have been put in place.

In Burkina Faso: the chances of finding alive the miners stranded for a month in the Perkoa mine are dwindling. No minor was found in the room of refuge, the search continues. Since the incident, no radio contact has been established with the miners trapped in the galleries.
