Two employees of the NGO were killed on Wednesday in the attack on their vehicle in the Kayes region, in western Mali, the Malian Red Cross said in a statement on Thursday. The driver of the vehicle and an expatriate delegate of the Dutch Red Cross were killed in this attack perpetrated, according to the first testimonies collected by the organization, “by armed men” on motorbikes who “opened fire without warning” on the team. The driver was Malian and the expatriate delegate was Senegalese, an official of the Malian Red Cross told Agence France-Presse.
