About 6,000 people gathered in Malmedy on Tuesday to attend the Assumption festivities, which culminated in the making of a giant omelet.
The weather was rather mild, with gray skies but no rain, which attracted a lot of people.
After the mass and the blessing of bread and eggs, a folk procession took place before the preparation of the omelet.
To make it, some 11,000 eggs, 50 kg of bacon bits, 25 liters of oil, 5 kg of chives and 500 grams of spices were needed. Once cooked in a stove four meters in diameter, heated over a wood fire, the omelet portions were distributed free of charge to visitors.
During the morning, several local personalities were inducted into the Brotherhood of the Giant Omelet.
