Three months ago, Adv. I get a phone call from Anil Nagendran. It was said that I was called with high expectations. The matter is nothing else, Bindu, the wife of Sreekumar, a native of Venjaramood, who has previous experience with painting work at home, needs an urgent heart surgery. My thought is that Mammootty himself, who has become a support to thousands of needy people beyond his acting skills, should be called. As someone who knows many of Mammootty’s Jiva Karunya projects intimately and has been with him from the very beginning of his first ‘Kazha’ project, which benefited tens of thousands, I expressed this demand to Mammootty with the freedom of an old senior in law college. The emergency situation was also clarified. The speed of Mammootty’s intervention, who understood the seriousness of the matter, surprised me.
Directing his office to speed up Bindu’s surgery and treatment, Mammootty suggested that the operation be included in the ‘Hridhyam’ project in collaboration with Rajagiri Hospital in Aluva and his charity movement Care and Share International Foundation. A team of expert doctors led by Dr. Shiv K. Nair, one of India’s well-known cardiac surgeons, completed the surgery successfully. Today, Bindu is perfectly healthy and happily sitting at home in Venjaramood. I thought that when a life costing such a large amount of money is a mercy, it will be in the media tomorrow and the outside world will know. I waited for three months, but nothing happened! I also spoke to Mammootty’s charity management about this. Their reply was ‘another surprise to me’. It is only to be helpful to the beneficiaries.’
