Fatal Road Crash on N25 Rosslare Road Claims Life of Man in His 70s

A tragedy unfolded on Tuesday evening on the main N25 Rosslare road outside Wexford when a man in his 70s lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. between the Orristown junction and Killinick Village, near the busy Rosslare Europort.

The collision involved at least three vehicles,with the man’s car reportedly first striking a roadside barrier before swerving into oncoming traffic. This resulted in a collision with at least one other car and a van. Emergency services, including the National Ambulance Service, Wexford Fire Service, and Gardaí, responded swiftly to the scene.

Sadly, despite immediate medical attention, the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Thankfully, no other serious injuries were reported, and while other drivers involved were checked at the scene, none required hospitalisation.

The impact of the crash was immediate and important.The N25 Rosslare Road experienced major backlogs, prompting Gardaí to urge motorists to avoid the area. A stop/go system was implemented and will remain in place overnight. to facilitate a thorough forensic examination of the scene, the road will be fully closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m

Inspector O’Sullivan: We can confirm that the driver was a man in his 70s. We are withholding his name until his next of kin have been notified. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this tough time.
