A knife-wielding man attacked three women on the streets of Paris near Porte de Clichy on Monday, July 27, 2026, shouting that he was commanded by Allah before an off-duty police officer and bystanders detained him. Two victims sustained severe wounds in the daylight assault.

The daylight assault unfolded at about 11:30 a.m. (0930 GMT) near the Paris Court in the north of the French capital in the Porte de Clichy area. The suspect, seen in social media video with long, dark hair and wearing a cream-colored tracksuit, stalked the sidewalk clutching a pair of butcher knives—described also as two kitchen knives—and targeted three women aged 19, 24, and 36. According to Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, two of the victims were gravely wounded and severely injured, though their lives were not in danger. One had been injured in the lower back, while the other was injured in the abdomen. Witnesses and officials reported that the victims were taken to the hospital following the incident.
Social media video aired on social platform X and verified by Reuters showed a man with long black hair, wearing a cream tracksuit and wielding one big knife in each hand stabbing and attempting to attack a young woman, though it remains unclear if that specific woman was injured. A man was also seen in video screaming warnings to passersby to avoid the armed lunatic. Additional video footage showed the same suspect lying on the ground surrounded by bystanders, with the two knives lying nearby on a pedestrian crossing.
An off-duty police officer ultimately intervened to detain the attacker. The perpetrator was apprehended by an off-duty police officer,

Quick-thinking good Samaritans confronted and took the attacker down, putting an end to the rampage before law enforcement could fully secure the area. Geoffroy Boulard, the mayor of the northwest 17th arrondissement where the stabbings occurred, noted on the social platform X that one of the three injured women was pregnant. Waitress Kheira Dellabed, 54, recalled the scene as the suspect moved past local establishments.

Following the initial tackle by the young man with a small suitcase, another waiter put a chair on the suspect to keep him immobilized on the pavement until authorities arrived to take him into custody.
Incoherent Statements and Unknown Motives
While lying on the ground surrounded by onlookers and awaiting formal arrest, the suspect made explicit ideological declarations. It is Allah who commanded me,

Despite the statements, Interior Minister Nunez advised against jumping to conclusions, noting that the precise motive remained unknown and that police had been unable to verify the identity of the attacker because his declarations while he was being arrested were incoherent

The attack in Paris marks the second apparent Islamist terror attack in a European capital in a matter of days.
