Man Critically Injured After Being Stabbed by Partner in Moita Following Infidelity Dispute

Domestic Dispute Escalates to Stabbing in Praia Grande as Investigators Unravel a Complex Reality

Domestic violence often follows a harrowing, predictable script, but a recent violent altercation in Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo state, subverted expectations when the victim chose to return to the home he shares with his alleged assailant.

The Kitchen Confrontation and the Breaking Point

The incident unfolded around 7:00 PM on a Wednesday at the couple’s residence on Rua Honduras, located in the Guilhermina neighborhood. The victim informed the Civil Police that he was in the kitchen while his partner remained in a bedroom with their two children. When the woman’s cell phone—which was charging on the kitchen counter—began to ring, the man answered it.

Enraged by the disclosure, the husband cursed at the caller and disconnected the call. Attempting to prevent further communication, he tried to block and delete the number, prompting the woman to rush into the kitchen to retrieve her device. In an escalating scuffle, the man threw the cellular phone into a washing machine.

The situation quickly turned physical and severe. According to the victim’s police statement, the woman grabbed a kitchen knife and lunged at him, striking him in the abdomen. Deprived of a working phone to dial for emergency services, the wounded man walked alone to the Irmã Dulce Hospital for treatment.

Living Arrangements Post-Incident and Police Investigation

Following the attack, law enforcement officers from the Praia Grande Police Station launched an inquiry into the attempted homicide. Investigators from the 1st Police District, led by Delegate Flávio Goda Magario and Chief of Investigations Gleydson Segundo, worked to locate the individuals involved. To the surprise of investigators, authorities found that the victim had returned to the household after being discharged from the hospital, and the couple continued to cohabitate.

During police interviews, the victim admitted that he had suspected infidelity for some time. However, he expressed a refusal to believe his partner genuinely intended to take his life, noting that she only struck him with a single knife blow. Furthermore, the man defended her character to investigators, stating that she remains a good mother to their children.

In her statement to the delegate, the woman acknowledged that she had maintained an extramarital relationship for slightly less than a year. While her husband was unaware of the affair’s full extent, she suspected he harbored doubts. She stated that she reacted violently out of frustration after watching him damage yet another of her mobile phones. She maintained that she lacked any intent to kill him, characterizing him as a strict partner who frequently found fault with her actions and restricted her friendships.

Legal Proceedings and Evidence Recovery

To shield her children from trauma, the woman admitted to scrubbing the kitchen floor to remove traces of blood following the attack. She subsequently surrendered the weapon used in the assault to the police.

Because law enforcement did not capture the suspect during the immediate window of flagrante delicto, she was not arrested at the time, though police formally indicted her for attempted homicide. The case remains under active investigation by the Civil Police as authorities evaluate the complex dynamics of a household where victim and suspect continue to share a roof.
