The victim’s lifeless body, which had a bullet wound, was found around 12:30 p.m. in a field in Oedelem, near Beernem. The public prosecutor’s office in Bruges has appointed a forensic doctor and a weapons expert to investigate the exact circumstances of the death.
According to initial findings, no third party was involved in the fatal shooting incident. The most likely hypothesis is that the victim injured himself accidentally. The man was indeed carrying a hunting weapon.
