A 57-year-old man was captured by Zulia state authorities following being caught raping a 12-year-old teenager.
The event was recorded in the abandoned building of the National Housing Institute (Inavi), located in an area near the Basilica of La Chinita.
A commission from the Zulia Police (Cpez) went to the site and captured the suspect.
The man, at the time of his arrest, “was half naked next to the boy,” according to Sergio Villasmil, director of Cpez.
Villasmil pointed out that the defendant was taken to the command of the Cycling Brigade by some officials.
Meanwhile, the young man was treated at the Chiquinquirá Hospital.
The adolescent’s parents do not reside in the country, so he was left under the care of the Council for the Protection of Children and Adolescents. His care will be in charge of a Shelter House.
