Man Rescued After Car Plunges into Patchogue Bay: Suffolk County Hero Saves the Day

Néstor Riosarvealo suffered the biggest scare in his 33 years of existence and fortunately lived to tell about it, after his car fell into the sea with him inside on Long Island (NY).

the police of the suffolk county confirmed that the incident happened early yesterday morning, at 5 am, when Riosarvealo was driving his car on a dock and, for reasons not clarified, he fell into the water in Patchogue Bay.

His 2017 Nissan car was submerged in water in front of the Mascot Dock on South Ocean Avenue in Patchogue. In a moment the water came up to his chindetailed CBS News.

“I saw the car submerged… I knew I had precious seconds. I just had to get in the water.”

Officer Edward Pitre, who has been with the local police for only two years, was the first to arrive on the scene. “I saw the car submerged… I knew I had precious seconds. I just had to get in the water.” commented later.

Pitre tried to break the car window to get the driver out, but he was unsuccessful. “This is not easy to do because he was in full uniform, he wears a vest, he has the gun belt and it adds 20 pounds to his body,” said Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison.

Moments later, firefighter Peter Feehan arrived, who took a tool and broke the rear window of the car. That’s when Officer Pitre reached in and pulled the victim out.

“Once the window was broken, the car quickly sank to the roof,” recalled firefighter Feehan, who commented that he does not feel like a hero, but only applied what he has been trained to do.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.commented Fox News. Meanwhile, the police are still investigating exactly what happened, but they don’t believe drugs or alcohol had anything to do with this road incident.
